While far from being the “perfect” solution, Transformative Agreements (TAs) currently seem to be the most practical tool for increasing OA publication opportunities for researchers and building up pressure to flip hybrid journals. However the development of licensing costs as well as administrative and labor costs associated with running consortial Transformative Agreements (TAs) is hard to predict.

Come to the SOCRS open session in Dublin and hear Nicola Bieg from Technische Informationsbibliothek (TIB) presenting three models of transformative agreements in current TIB-led consortia. She will offer some “lessons learned” from the experiences that TIB has gathered in negotiating and managing consortial transformative agreements in the past years and discuss how these experiences allow for a (preliminary) assessment of the features that work well and the challenges that persist.
